Watchdog delays ban on dairy imports from Belarus to Mar 15

MOSCOW, Mar 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight has postponed introduction of a ban on imports of some dairy products from Belarus from Tuesday to March 15, the service said on Monday.

The service initially planned to introduce the ban from February 26, but later delayed it until Tuesday.

The ban will affect imports of milk and pasteurized, sterilized, concentrated, canned and condensed cream, buttermilk, and whey protein and milk protein concentrate.

“Batches of the named goods arrived on temporary control veterinary stations located on the Russian–Belarusian section of the border will be returned to Belarus after March 15, 2018,” the watchdog said.

President Alexander Lukashenko said earlier that Belarus will not leave Russia’s limits on dairy product imports without retaliation.
